Dreality Host Cancellation Policy
At Dreality, we strive to provide a reliable and seamless experience for guests booking homes, yachts, cars, jet skis, private chefs, and other services through our platform. While host cancellations are rare, they can disrupt guest plans and impact trust within our community. Therefore, hosts who cancel confirmed reservations may face fees and additional consequences as outlined in this policy. However, we recognize that some cancellations may be beyond a host’s control and provide exceptions in certain cases.
Cancellation Fees
If a host cancels a confirmed reservation or is found responsible for a cancellation, a fee will be imposed based on the timing and type of booking. The minimum cancellation fee is $50 USD and is calculated as follows:
Homes, Yachts, and Other Lodging Accommodations:
- Within 48 hours before check-in or after check-in: 50% of the reservation amount for unused nights.
- Between 48 hours and 30 days before check-in: 25% of the reservation amount.
- More than 30 days before check-in: 10% of the reservation amount.
- For long-term stays (28+ days): The cancellation fee is applied to the non-refundable portion of the reservation, covering up to the 30-day period following the cancellation date.
Vehicle Rentals (Cars, Jet Skis, Yachts, and Other Transport Services):
- Within 24 hours of the start time: 50% of the reservation amount.
- Between 24 hours and 7 days before the start time: 25% of the reservation amount.
- More than 7 days before the start time: 10% of the reservation amount.
Private Chefs and Experience-Based Services:
- Within 24 hours of the scheduled service: 50% of the reservation amount.
- Between 24 hours and 7 days before the scheduled service: 25% of the reservation amount.
- More than 7 days before the scheduled service: 10% of the reservation amount.
When calculating cancellation fees, the reservation amount includes the base rate, cleaning fees, service fees, and any additional charges (e.g., pet fees) but excludes taxes and guest fees. If the calculated cancellation fee is less than $50 USD, it will be adjusted to meet the minimum.
Cancellation fees are withheld from the host’s next payout(s). If a payout has already been made, the amount will be deducted from future earnings.
Situations Where Fees May Be Waived
Dreality will waive cancellation fees in appropriate situations, including but not limited to:
- Major Disruptive Events (natural disasters, government-mandated restrictions, pandemics, etc.).
- Valid reasons beyond the host’s control (e.g., unforeseen property damage, emergencies, death in the family).
- Extenuating circumstances requiring documentation for review.
Even if a fee is waived, other consequences may still apply, such as blocking the listing’s calendar.
Other Consequences for Host Cancellations
In addition to cancellation fees, the following actions may be taken:
- The host’s listing may be blocked for the affected dates.
- Repeated cancellations or cancellations without a valid reason may result in listing suspension or removal from Dreality.
- Superhost status may be revoked.
- If the cancellation is due to the listing being materially different from the description (e.g., double-booking, false advertising), Dreality reserves the right to impose stricter penalties, including account termination.
Host Responsibilities
If a host cannot honor a reservation, they must cancel promptly to allow guests to adjust their plans. Hosts may not encourage guests to cancel, as this will still be considered a host-initiated cancellation.
Providing false statements or materials regarding a cancellation violates our Terms of Service and may result in account suspension or termination.
This policy applies to cancellations made on or after the effective date. Any changes will be communicated in accordance with Dreality’s Terms of Service.
